New Mexico REAL ID Driver Licenses

MVD NOW is determined to not only provide outstanding customer service but to educate our customer base with the most up to date motor vehicle policy changes.  As of November 14, 2016, New Mexico started issuing driver’s licenses that comply with the federal Real ID Act of 2005.  On October 1, 2020, the federal government will require your driver’s license to be Real ID compliant if you wish to use it as identification to board an aircraft or enter federal facilities where ID is required.  To obtain a Real ID license you must present:

  • Proof of Identity: Birth Certificate or Passport
  • Two proofs of Residency
  • Marriage certificate with current name
  • Divorce Decree
